What It Is
Huperzine-A is a natural compound derived from Chinese club moss (Huperzia serrata), long studied for its cognitive-supporting properties.
How It Works
Huperzine-A works by inhibiting the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which normally breaks down the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Higher levels of acetylcholine are associated with improved concentration and memory recall.
An Important Safety Note
Because Huperzine-A affects acetylcholine levels, it should not be combined with other medications that do the same thing, including certain medications prescribed for Alzheimer's disease. Some sources also recommend cycling on and off Huperzine-A rather than using it continuously without breaks. If you have a heart condition or take related medication, talk to your doctor first.
